Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome to my little corner of the flower world — where the roses climb, petals fall just as they please, and beauty is found in the soft, imperfect, and undone.

Below you’ll find answers to the most common questions I’m asked about flowers, fragrance, and the way I work. Everything I create is guided by seasonality, storytelling, ethical practices, and a deep respect for the natural rhythm of flowers — and for family life, too.

Who is behind Where The Roses Grow?

Where The Roses Grow is a one-woman floral studio, run thoughtfully alongside motherhood.

Every bouquet, arrangement, candle, and event installation is created entirely by me — from sourcing and conditioning flowers to designing, wrapping, writing cards, and delivering orders. I’m also a mum, and my studio works around the rhythm of family life.

Working this way allows me to create with intention, care, and presence — both in my work and at home. It does mean availability is intentionally limited and my workflow looks a little different to larger studios, but it ensures every piece that leaves my hands is never rushed and always thoughtfully made.

Where do you source your flowers?

I source flowers as locally and seasonally as possible here in South Australia.

Many blooms are grown close to my studio, while others come from trusted local growers and wholesalers who share my values around sustainability and ethical practices. Every stem is chosen for its movement, texture, tone, and natural character — flowers that feel alive, imperfect, and full of story.

What does seasonal floristry mean at Where The Roses Grow?

Seasonal floristry means allowing nature to lead.

The flowers you receive reflect what is growing at its best right now — not what is forced or imported year-round. Spring feels light and fluttery, summer is abundant and expressive, autumn is warm and textural, and winter arrangements are quieter, moodier, and more sculptural.

If a specific flower isn’t available, I’ll always choose something that captures the same feeling and atmosphere.

What is your signature floral style?

Soft, romantic, and gently wild.

My work is flower-focused, giving each stem space to move and be seen. I favour garden roses, seasonal blooms, delicate textures, and natural negative space — arrangements that feel gathered from the garden rather than tightly controlled.

My style is inspired by overgrown cottage gardens, slow living, nostalgia, poetry, and the beauty of imperfection. No two arrangements are ever identical — and that’s very much by design.

Why does your pricing reflect a flower-focused approach?

My pricing reflects the quality of flowers used, ethical sourcing, seasonality, and the time and care involved in creating each arrangement by hand.

I work in small, intentional quantities and don’t mass-produce designs. Each piece prioritises flowers over filler, thoughtful mechanics over shortcuts, and craftsmanship over speed.

Are your arrangements made using floral foam?

No — I’ve made the conscious move to foam-free floristry.

All arrangements are created using ethical, reusable, and biodegradable mechanics such as chicken wire, natural structures, and water-filled vessels. This approach is kinder to the environment and allows flowers to move and age more naturally — perfectly aligned with my garden-led, romantic style.

What does ethical floristry mean to you?

Ethical floristry means working with the seasons — not against them.

It’s about thoughtful sourcing, reducing waste, choosing foam-free methods, and designing in a way that respects both the flowers and the environment. It also means producing in small quantities, valuing craftsmanship over speed, and being transparent about how I work.

How do you condition your flowers?

Every stem is trimmed, stripped, and hydrated in clean, cool water with flower food.

Garden blooms are hand-picked early in the morning and allowed to rest and rehydrate naturally before arranging. This ensures freshness, longevity, and beautiful natural movement.

How do I place an order?

Orders can be placed directly through the website by selecting your bouquet or arrangement and choosing your delivery or collection date.

For custom requests, special occasions, or events, please reach out via the contact form or Instagram. I’m always happy to create something tailored within the rhythm of the season.

Do you welcome drop-ins?

Yes — drop-ins are welcome, with a little notice if possible.

I make up a limited number of bouquets each day for visitors to the studio. Because everything is created fresh and in small quantities, availability varies and designs often sell out.

To avoid disappointment, I recommend calling or messaging ahead so I can let you know what’s available or have something ready for you.

Where The Roses Grow is a home-based studio, not a traditional retail shopfront. When the sign is out the front, the studio is open and welcoming visitors. If the sign isn’t out, the studio is closed and unavailable for drop-ins that day.

This system allows me to balance creative work, family life, and a calm, unhurried experience for everyone.

Notes on delivery:

I deliver throughout metropolitan Adelaide and nearby suburbs, generally within 30km of Port Adelaide.

If you’re located further out, please get in touch — collection or alternative options can often be arranged.

Do you re-attempt delivery if the recipient isn’t home?
No — to ensure flower quality and fairness to all customers, only one delivery attempt is made.

Are flowers safe to be left outside?
Yes, bouquets are wrapped in a hydrating water wrap and placed in a shady location where possible. However, flowers are perishable and should be brought inside and placed into water as soon as possible.

What happens if the recipient refuses the flowers?
If a delivery is declined, the flowers will be returned to the studio and will be available for collection only. No further delivery attempts will be made.

What if it’s a hot day?
We take care to place flowers in the coolest, shadiest spot available, but extreme heat can shorten vase life. Prompt collection and hydration are essential.

Can I request specific flowers or colours?

Yes — you’re welcome to share your preferences.

While I work seasonally and can’t guarantee specific blooms year-round, I’ll always honour the mood, palette, and feeling you’re drawn to — selecting flowers that reflect your vision while staying true to what’s available at its best.

How far in advance should I order?

  • Everyday bouquets: Preferably 24 hours notice is ideal but I do accept same day orders as long as they are ordered prior to 10am.

  • Events and weddings: several weeks’ notice is recommended, especially during peak seasons

Availability is limited, so early booking is always encouraged.

How do events and weddings work?

Once you enquire, we’ll chat about your vision — colours, textures, scale, and the atmosphere you’d like to create.

From there, I’ll design a tailored floral concept and proposal reflecting both your brief and the season. A deposit secures your date, and I take care of everything from sourcing to styling on the day — allowing you to simply enjoy the moment.

Do you provide mock-ups before events?

I don’t create full physical mock-ups, as these require purchasing large quantities of flowers in advance.

Instead, I provide a detailed moodboard outlining your colour palette, textures, inspiration, and floral direction — offering clarity while leaving room for seasonal beauty and intuition on the day.

Do you offer dried or preserved flowers?

Yes. My everlasting arrangements are created in soft, neutral tones with gentle movement and texture. They’re designed to last beautifully and make timeless keepsakes for the home.

Can I collect my order instead of delivery?

Yes — collection is available from my home studio on your chosen date.

Orders are prepared fresh, carefully wrapped, fully hydrated, and include care instructions. If you’re hoping to collect without pre-ordering, please get in touch beforehand, as daily quantities are limited and often sell out.

How should I care for my flowers?

Trim stems on arrival, refresh the water daily, and keep flowers away from direct sunlight or heat.

A light misting can help keep delicate petals fresh, particularly during warmer months. With proper care, your flowers should remain beautiful for several days.

Do you create candles and home fragrance?

Yes — I hand-pour soy candles, diffusers, and home fragrance in small batches, inspired by the same romantic, garden-grown world as my florals.

Scents draw from nature and memory — rose petals, herbs, honey, linen, warm kitchens, and slow afternoons — designed to bring comfort and quiet beauty into your home.

Are your candles made with natural ingredients?

I use high-quality soy wax, phthalate-free fragrance oils, and eco-friendly cotton wicks. Everything is poured by hand in my studio in small batches to ensure quality, consistency, and a beautiful scent throw.

Do you collaborate with other creatives?

Yes — I love collaborating with like-minded creatives, photographers, stylists, and brands whose values align with mine.

If you feel our aesthetics complement one another, you’re welcome to reach out via hello@wheretherosesgrow.com.au or Instagram.

What inspires your work?

I’m endlessly inspired by the quiet beauty of the natural world — flowers moving in the wind, rain on soil, petals softened by time.

Everything I create is a reflection of slow living, nostalgia, creativity, and motherhood — a reminder that beautiful things can be made gently, in their own time. My hope is that each piece feels personal, poetic, and just a little bit like it belongs in a story.
